the statistic that in 2003 only 4.5% of the companies that got venture
funding were owned by women.Co-panelist Denise Howell says that it's a great time to be looking for money for a new technology idea and it's a great time to be a woman trying to get funding. There is money out there, and investors are looking for new takes on technology. The third panelist, Mary Hodder, who is currently seeking funding for her new technology company, sees an advantage in being a woman. She feels that as a woman she stands out among the sea of men seeking funding. Her experience is that investors are beginning to realize that technology is more than just writing code. A successful technology company also needs important social feedback skills that women can bring to the table.
